To the Editor:
(Todd Carlson’s) columns in the paper are very entertaining and to the point, with a little bit of humour thrown in.
Like (Carlson), I have no telephone, but my portable phone has a number storage and memory.
I have no other gadgets for the phone.
When my phone rings, I answer it. Curiosity killed the cat.
If I do not answer, then no doubt I am not at home.
However, every call I make is answered by an answering service.
State your business between the beeps and hang up.
Then, wait, wait, wait, wait and wait.
I cannot understand why people have so much to say on cellphones, nothing on good old Bell.
As a youngster I grew up just south of the Village of Burk’s Falls, not as far south as the Almaguin News is now.
Very few people had phones or even a car.
The past 60 years have made quite a change. No one can survive without either one.
Since the telephones and cars have taken over our lives and the market, it’s too bad that we can’t have a little more courtesy with the telephone.
