Calling out praise for Maple Syrup Festival and its organizers
Apr 30, 2008
To the Editor:
I should like to take this opportunity to thank Powassan’s Official Town Crier Stephen Hugh Smith and all the wonderful citizens of Powassan for their delightful hospitality which was freely given to myself and my wife, at your most spectacular maple syrup festival this weekend.
What a lovely community you are!
As official Town Crier for the City of Barrie, I was invited to attend your maple syrup fest on Saturday, and found that the event was extremely well organized and planned, and that each and every citizen, be they young or old, was having a truly splendid time.
Your Town Crier, despite having had a fall some weeks earlier and suffering a broken hip, soldiered on to perform several proclamations around the town, and invited me also to help proclaim the opening of your magnificent event.
On behalf of The Ontario Guild of Town Criers, I thank you Crier Hugh Smith, committee members Theresa and Markus, your Mayor Bob Young, and all the other hard working people of Powassan who made this great day possible.
Most kind regards to you all!
Stephen J. Travers
