Dismayed at changes to community news columns

To the Editor:

The Municipality of Whitestone was quite dismayed upon reading your decision to eliminate the community news of Dunchurch/Whitestone.

Though your announcement did say that organizations could notify your writer from Magnetawan to place Whitestone issues in its column we feel that the current column and columnist represents the Whitestone community the best.

We also feel that as a municipality, we are a major financial contributor to your newspaper through advertising, subscriptions, promotional ads, etc., and that the elimination of the community news of Dunchurch/Whitestone (or which comprised a small portion of a page) your paper is doing a disservice to our community.

Your reconsideration of reinstating the community news of Dunchurch/Whitestone would be a favourable gesture in our view.
