Mr. Jack Devitt Osborn of Sand Lake passed away peacefully in hospital on Sunday, February 17, 2008 in his 90th year. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife Olive Mae Osborn (August, 2002) and will be sorely missed by his companion of four years, Annie Hanson. Jack was also pre-deceased by brothers Harold (Evelyn) and Murray (Joy). His memory will be forever cherished by daughters Joy Diane Ben (Edward) from Ottawa, Georgie Snooks from Huntsville, grandchildren Carrie Oakley (Ray), Robert Ben (Lorraine) and Christopher Ben (John), Michael Stuart (Susan), great-grandchildren Nicolas Ben, Alexander Stuart, nephews and nieces Robert Osborn (Diane), Sandra, David Osborn (Linda), Gary Osborn (pre-deceased) and Gay Benner (Bob). Jack was an expert fisherman and would spend countless hours in his boat on Sand Lake. In addition, he was an active lay-minister in the United Church, giving freely of himself visiting and enriching the lives of the elderly in the area nursing homes.
Family received visitors at the Opatovsky Funeral Home - Dempster Chapel, 210 Ontario Street, Burk’s Falls on Thursday, February 21, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service to celebrate the life of the late Mr. Jack Osborn was held in Knox United Church, Kearney commencing at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 22, 2008, Reverend Nina Fulford officiating.
Spring interment in Sand Lake Log Church Cemetery.
