Feb 27, 2008
BURK’S FALLS — Laura Rowley, the long-time clerk of Armour Township, has passed away.

Rowley, who worked at the township office for 26 years before retiring in 2005, died in Honolulu, Hawaii on Feb. 18.

She had fought an 11-year battle with cancer.

“When she was there (in the township office), she was certainly someone who knew her job,” said Armour councillor Marty Corcoran.  “You didn’t have to go very far to get an answer from her.”

He added that he knows she’ll be very missed by her family.

Rowley leaves behind her husband, Joe, children Ken (Wendy) and Connie (Peter), as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other family members and friends.

The family will receive visitors at the Opatovsky Funeral Home-Dempster Chapel in Burk’s Falls on Saturday, March 1 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

A celebration of Rowley’s life will be held in the home’s chapel on Sunday, March 2 at 2 p.m.
