While other Almaguin teams were busy at home and away with exhibition hockey and league play, the Bantams hosted a home tournament in South River this past weekend.
Bantam: The Ice Devil Bantams hosted their annual tournament on the weekend with teams coming from as far as Erin (northeast of Guelph) to compete.
In the opener with the Powassan Hawks almost two full periods of scoreless hockey was played before Justin Simser took a pass from Stephen Opatovsky, and found the five hole with a quick wrist shot from the point. Powassan answered in the third to tie the game before speedy right-winger Nils Sebastian scored with assists going to Justin Simser and Stephen Opatovsky again. The Hawks pulled their goalie in an attempt to tie the game but were unable to do so.
