Bert Hewitt passed away at Eastholme Home for the Aged on Monday, October 1, 2007. He was 87.

Born in Magnetawan, on April 9, 1920, Bert was the son of Frank and Amelia Hewitt.

He was a loving husband to Ella Jean Hewitt (deceased), whom he married on July 2, 1949 in Sundridge.

Bert is survived by three sons and two daughters: Sharon and Bob Dreher of Eagle Lake; Ken and Mindy Hewitt of Burlington; Vicki and Mark Murdoch of Arnprior; Garry and Lori Hewitt of Midland; and Steve and Jackie Hewitt of Sundridge.

Bert is also survived by his sister, Dorothy King.

He will be fondly remembered by his family, friends and the community at large.

A Second World War veteran, Bert worked many jobs over the course of his life. He was a miner, he worked for McCallum Transport and he also was a Texaco Gas Station proprietor. Bert was also an avid gardener.

Reverend Lori Campbell conducted theĀ  funeral service for Mr. Hewitt, which was held on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at Zion United Church in Sundridge.

Casket bearers were Bob Dreher, Bob Sohm, Chris Murdoch, Justin Hewitt, Mark Murdoch and Mike St. Jean.
