Thanks to all who support the food bank

To the Editor:

I write this letter on behalf of the many volunteers and those in need of the Burk’s Falls and District Food Bank.

I have lived in three different communities before moving to the Almaguin area and I have been involved in many different organizations in those communities. I am humbled by the

generosity and kindness of this particular community. I honestly do not know of any other food bank in this province that receives the kind of support that our food bank receives. Unlike many of our partners in other much larger places, we have never had to close our doors because we had no food! We came close a few times, but the community didn’t let that happen.

Just within the past month, we received food and financial donations from individuals, schools and businesses and were the recipients from two food drives.

It’s a difficult thing to adequately express our appreciation because we don’t want the community to think that we don’t need their help! We just feel very lucky to be part of a community that not only cares, but demonstrated that caring through action.

I am glad that I am part of this community!
