Relive the good old days at Harvest Fling
by Laurel Campbell
CHISHOLM – Township residents can relive the good old days when communities used to gather together for the sole purpose of having a good time when Chisholm holds its first Harvest Fling at Clear Springs Golf Course on Oct. 20.

“We just want everyone to come out and have a good time just like we used in the good old days,” said councillor Steve Boyle, one of the event’s organizers. “It’s an opportunity for people to catch up after a hectic summer, renew friendships, and celebrate the fall season with great food a lively music.”

Those wishing to participate can come for both dinner and a dance, featuring the township’s own Whitfields, for a total cost of $30. Or come just for the dancing and music, with dance tickets selling for $5.

“It should be a great evening, especially with the Whitfields playing,” said Boyle. “Not only are they one of the favourite groups in the area, they are part of our community, and this is all about celebrating community spirit.”

Tickets for the Harvest Fling are available at the Chisholm municipal office, the golf course and also from Boyle and Councillor Doug Penny.

“Coming together as a community used to be a regular event,” said Penny. “There was a time when there used to be a community dance almost every Saturday night. I think it’s too bad we lost that important venue for neighbourly fellowship and it’s time we reconnect as a community again.”

Anyone wishing to donate spot prizes for the dance or help in any other way should contact either Boyle at 724-2436 or Penny at 724-6802.
